WELCOME TO THE NORTHWEST CONNECTICUT FOOD HUB!
The Northwest Connecticut Food Hub is a nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening local farms, improving food access, and building a more resilient regional food system.
We facilitate small and mid-sized Connecticut farms with public schools, healthcare and community institutions, food assistance programs, and families throughout our region—creating dependable markets for farmers while bringing more fresh, locally grown food into our communities that need it the most.
At the heart of our work is a simple belief: when local farms thrive, communities thrive. Through aggregation, distribution, marketing, logistics, and farmer support, we help producers reach markets that can be difficult to access on their own while working to ensure farmers receive fair and sustainable prices for the food they grow.
Our work is also deeply rooted in addressing food insecurity. We help make locally grown, nutritious food more accessible to children through school meals, food-insecure households, and ALICE families—Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed—who are working but still struggling to afford the rising cost of basic necessities.
As a nonprofit, our success is measured not simply by how much food we move, but by the impact that food creates: stronger farms, healthier children and families, greater food security, and a stronger local food economy.
We are the connection between the people who grow our food and the communities that depend on it.
The Food Hub's Farm-to-School initiative was funded in part by the Connecticut Department of Agriculture thought the Community Investment Act and the Draper Foundation Fund of the Northwest Connecticut Community Foundation.
"Funding support for the NWCT Regional Food Hub was provided by the Berkshire Agricultural Ventures Community Matching Fund, Ellen Knowles Harcourt Foundation, Northwest Hills Council of Governments, Partners for Sustainable Healthy Communities, and Upper Housatonic Valley National Heritage Area."
Ordering from NWCT FOODHUB helps to build and support our community, and to preserve our precious agricultural land for future generations.
