About Us
Green Gorilla Farm is a GAP-certified indoor urban farm in Torrington, Connecticut, specializing exclusively in the cultivation of premium microgreens. Nestled within our 3,000 sq ft. growing facility, we passionately nurture trays of vibrant, flavorful greens in carefully controlled conditions, ensuring optimal freshness, taste, and nutritional density.

Microgreens are young vegetable greens harvested just days after germination, at their nutritional and flavor peaks. Despite their small size, these tiny plants deliver remarkable flavors—from delicately sweet to refreshingly spicy—and pack an impressive nutritional punch, often containing 4–6 times more vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants compared to mature vegetables.

At Green Gorilla Farm, we're deeply committed to raising the bar in microgreens production. Each variety, including favorites like peppery arugula, zesty radish, earthy broccoli, sweet pea shoots, and aromatic herbs like basil and cilantro is grown with meticulous care and harvested at just the right moment. We pride ourselves on providing chefs, health enthusiasts, and local families with delicious microgreens that transform everyday dishes into extraordinary culinary experiences.

Driven by passion and dedicated to quality, Green Gorilla Farm is proud to nourish our community with microgreens that are as beneficial to your health as they are delightful to your palate.
Practices
At Green Gorilla Farm, our approach to farming centers around one powerful ingredient: living, organic soil. We believe passionately that exceptional microgreens start from the ground up—literally. Our proprietary soil mix, organically enriched with compost, worm castings, kelp meal, lobster meal, and beneficial microbes, forms the foundation for microgreens that are superior in flavor, nutrition, and longevity compared to hydroponically grown counterparts.

While many microgreens producers choose hydroponic systems—growing plants in nutrient solutions without soil—we have purposefully chosen a soil-based approach. Why? Because healthy soil supports a vibrant ecosystem of beneficial microbes, fungi, and nutrients that plants naturally recognize and readily absorb. This rich microbial environment helps our microgreens develop deeper, more complex flavors, increased levels of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, and significantly longer shelf life.

Growing indoors further enhances our sustainability and quality control. By cultivating within our controlled-environment facility, we significantly reduce water use, eliminate the need for chemical pesticides, minimize food miles, and ensure consistent harvests year-round regardless of weather conditions. Indoor cultivation also allows us to closely monitor every stage of plant growth, ensuring each microgreen is harvested at its nutritional and flavorful peak.

At Green Gorilla Farm, our dedication to sustainable, soil-based farming methods isn’t just good for the environment—it’s essential for producing microgreens of unmatched quality. From our living soil to your table, we’re committed to nurturing a healthier planet and healthier community, one tray of microgreens at a time.
